Nel wins pair of Provincial Tennis Titles:
Mitchell Nel of Fredericton won a pair of titles at the National Bank Provincial Closed Men’s Championships played at Wilmot Park in Fredericton this past weekend. The #1 seed in singles defeated Dan Godwin of Fredericton, the #2 seed, in the finals by scores of 6/1, 6/1. Nel also teamed up with Alex Lavoie of Moncton to claim the men’s doubles title beating Minh Nguyen of Fredericton and Cade Nadeau of Quispamsis 6/1, 6/1. Finn McMorran of Fredericton won the 4.0 singles title with a close 7/5, 7/6 win over Mark Dilag of Riverview in the finals. Jeff Crossman of Riverview won the open singles consolation by defeating Dilag 8/2 in the final while Harry Quinlan of Fredericton defeated Denis Doiron of Moncton 8/1 in the 4.0 singles consolation.
